TRAINING The Club conducts training classes from March until November each year - even the hardy types can't face the worst of the Darwin Wet Season! Training even during these months is "weather permitting". Training classes are held at the Winnellie Dog Grounds on Thursdays from 7.30pm. Training in 2008 will commence on 6 March. This training is conducted at night, under lights and at the same venue as most of the Shows that are held in Darwin - it is believed that this gives trainees the edge when socialising and training new puppies. In training, the emphasis is on your dog having fun - a good show dog is a happy show dog and vice versa. Training is done using lots of encouragement, through words and pats and with only minimal, and very gentle, correction. The trainers also work on you and your dog as a team, developing confidence and working together. SHOWS Our shows are generally held on the Dog Showgrounds at Winnellie, the same place as we conduct training. The exception is the December show which is usually held in a wet weather venue. Darwin shows are held in the evening.
